Glitter tears are the newest festive make-up trend! The rage kick-started started with Christy Turlington gracing the covers of a magazine and flaunting the trend. Elle Fanning began the U.S craze, when she rocked the smudged gold glitter tears at a Saint Laurent show at New York fashion week in February. Ever since, a lot of ladies are embracing this look by splashing sparkly streaks of makeup under their eyes. Simply put, Glitter tears is an exotic eye make-up style. This look creates a dramatic effect of glitter tears, flowing under the eyes. The tears can be subtle or over the top. Begin by using a shimmery eye shadow, extreme glitter or a mix of both. You could also use two or three colours for a more dramatic and intense look. Start with a proper base and concealer. Now, seal this using powder. Apply shimmery shadow over the eye lids. Place a fine glitter of the same colour and draw them like tears flowing. Use your imagination to either dot the glitters or smudge them.

Make sure you dab the colours, and not swipe them. Make sure you use a light lip shade since the focal point is your eyes. Complete the look with mascara on both the top and bottom lashes. This look need not be incredibly neat . If you prefer a more dishevelled look, smudge the glitter.

Experimental, sassy and flamboyant — these terms best describe Glitter tears. Sport it at a fun soiree with your girls, and let the compliments keep pouring!

On the flip side, the glitter tears are not recommended for aged skin. This isn’t appropriate for people with eye allergies too, as it visually pulls down the eyes. The look exudes an unbridled vibe, and is bang on for young women. Most importantly make sure you remove the glitter using a natural oil like coconut oil before you hit the bed to avoid damage.

So, are you going to give under-eye sparkly tears a try ?
