Anti-Vedanta protests erupt

-

Rayagada: The anti-Vedanta protests have reared head once again after the Niyamgiri Suraksha Samiti on Tuesday staged a demonstration in front of the company’s Lanjigarh plant, reports said on Wednesday. Hundreds of tribals along with members of various forums took out a rally and staged a dharna in front of the plant. The protestors also tried to break the barricades and entered into a scuffle with the police, reports added. The protests were triggered after the Union home ministry linked the Niyamgiri Suraksha Samiti with Maoists. “The company has come here to take away our land,” said president of the Niyamgiri Suraksha Samiti.
