Huge cache of arms found in Manipur

Imphal: The Manipur police and the BSF on Wednesday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation on the road between Nongpok Sekmai and Heirok villages in Manipur’s Thoubal district, the police said. The police and the BSF found five live lathode shells, 28 live rounds of 7.62 mm caliber, five live rounds of .38 mm caliber, one live round of 5.56 mm caliber, one USA made pistol, five pieces of safety fuse and 35 detonators hidden under a culvert of the road, the police said. The area comes under the jurisdiction of Heirok police station. No one was arrested, the police said.
