The Delhi BJP has decided to collaborate with social and spiritual organisations to achieve its ambitious target, set up after massive mandate in civic polls and to make the city free from garbage within three months. The party will launch a mega-cleanliness drive on May 7 in collaboration with Dera Sacha Sauda led by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Soon after the party’s historic victory in three civic bodies, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari had said that the priority of the partyruled civic bodies would be to make the city free from garbage in three months. Mr Tiwari will join Dera Sacha Sauda chief Mr Singh in cleaning drive at one of the location.

As per the plan, over one lakh volunteers of Dera Sacha Sauda will lift garbage from across the city. The three municipal corporations and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will support the programme. The civic bodies will provide its machineries and staff for immediate lifting and disposal of garbage collected.

“We have started working towards making the city free from garbage within three months and for the participation of larger numbers of people participation, we have decided to work in cooperation with spiritual leaders and organisation to clean the city. We are starting with Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on May 7. Around 1.5 lakh volunteers of Dera Sacha Sauda and our party workers will clean the entire city. I had a word with the three civic bodies and the NDMC to remove garbage from the street as soon as possible,” said Mr Tiwari.

For proper coordination among the agencies and the volunteers, Mr Tiwari has already held meetings with municipal commissioners and NDMC’s chairman Naresh Kumar.

“The objective is to achieve the target set by PM Narendra Modi under the ‘Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan’ through public participation. This will continue once the sanitation drive is complete and all the garbage is removed, it will be the responsibility of the civic bodies to maintain cleanliness thereafter,” added Mr Tiwari.
