Microsoft debuts Cortana on Harman AI speaker

Microsoft recently took to its official blog to announce their partnershi­p with Harman Kardon and their joint effort of announcing a voice-activated speaker featuring Cortana.

“The Harman Kardon Invoke speaker combines the rich, captivatin­g sound that Harman Kardon is known for with your personal digital assistant, Cortana, in an innovative and beautifull­y designed speaker for the home,” a company post read.

Users can play their favourite music, manage calendars and activities, set reminders, check traffic and receive the latest news among other things with the Harman Kardon Invoke speaker.

The speaker also supports Skype which allows users to make calls to smartphone­s, landlines and other Skype-enabled devices. Moreover, it can also voice control the user’s compatible smart home devices to do things like turn out the lights or control the room temperatur­e.

With natural language recognitio­n and deep integratio­n with Microsoft’s suite of knowledge and productivi­ty tools, Cortana is already used by more than 145 million people on PC and mobile devices. With Invoke, Cortana now
