App to mark attendance in Miranda

College to go completely paperless soon, says principal

In the era of technology, Miranda House (MH) has become the first college in the Delhi University to develop three mobile applications, serving not only academic purposes but also for infrastructure maintenance.

While the varsity had launched a centralised attendance application earlier this year, MH has developed its own service app for maintaining attendance of the students. The college is a consultation and development partner with the private firm which developed the app.

“Every teacher has the attendance app on their phone, which is directly linked to the website. So, they have an option to either upload the attendance on the site on a daily basis or within a week or month. The app even sends an alert to those students whose attendance is low,” college principal Pratibha Jolly said.

She further said that the college is trying to go paperless and is also revamping its official website to increase its reach across all devices.

“MH InfraCare” is another mobile app which can be accessed by any student, staff, or faculty using their official email id on the domain “mirandahouse.ac.in” for adding a maintenance request for any equipment at a location.

The app also lets one click the equipment’s picture and sends it to the concerned person responsible for the same. “Anybody can report any kind of electrical or civil repair work through the app. For instance, if somebody sends a photo of a fan not working, the request would be received by the in-charge of the app, who would mark it to an electrician. The status of the request can be tracked on the phone and once the work is done, the person gets a notification,” the principal added. Yet another app, “MHEventHub,” has been developed for booking events on a particular date and time in a particular room. However, society convenors and presidents can only book an event from their official email ids using their phones. “The app would let a student know if the room has already been booked,” Ms Jolly added.
