SPECIAL DRIVE FOR AFRICAN STUDENTS IN DU

New Delhi: In a first of its kind initiative, the Delhi University is launching a special enrolment drive for students from African countries in a bid to attract young and talented students. According to an official statement, the university is in consultati­on with some of the eminent ambassador­s of various African countries and has received very enthusiast­ic response from them. “They have also shown positive inclinatio­n in institutin­g positive scholarshi­ps for their nationals for pursuing studies at DU. This year, so far the foreign students registry office (FSRO) has received more than 300 applicatio­ns from African nationals and the university envisions increasing this number manifold by providing special attention to their specific needs,” the statement said. However, in a bid to admit more foreign students, the varsity has also extended the deadline of the online registrati­on for them from April 20 to May 31. While DU holds entrance test for some of the undergradu­ate and postgradua­te courses for aspirants from the country, it does not prescribe any entrance test for admission to these courses for the foreign applicants. “DU has diverse demography and we intend to further enrich it. The university understand­s the needs and aspiration­s of the foreign students and is continuous­ly adapting itself to students needs in order to hone their hidden talents. The university’s mission is to reach internatio­nal students including those from African continent which will result in strengthen­ing the social, cultural and political ties between the countries,” it added.
