No burial for Manchester bomber

-

London, May 31: Mosques have refused to bury the body of Manchester-born suicide bomber Salman Abedi, who blew himself up at a concert last week killing 22 people at Manchester Arena.

Authorities are reportedly doing “everything in their power” to stop the 22year-old Libyan-origin bomber’s burial in any way in the Greater Manchester area, the Metro reported on Wednesday.

Councils, funeral directors and mosques in Manchester have refused to bury Abedi’s body. It has emerged that his corpse is currently being held in a morgue outside the city.

Meanwhile, the police said three of the 14 people arrested over the bombing have been released without charge, and the investigation so far has found that Abedi acted largely alone as he assembled his deadly device. He likely purchased most of the key bomb components himself.”Our inquiries show Abedi himself made most of the purchase of the core components and what is becoming apparent is that many of his movements and actions have been carried out alone during the four days from him landing in the country and committing this awful attack,” said Russ Jackson, head of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit.

The police have been probing Abedi’s last movements by delving into his phone calls and watching his movements on closedcircuit television.

“We have also have a good understanding of the likely component parts of the bomb and where these came from,” said Mr Jackson.

Officers were still trying to determine whether Abedi was part of a wider network, which could not be ruled out yet. They are also keen to find out why he kept going back to the Wilmslow Road area of Manchester and to find the blue suitcase he used during those trips, Jackson said.
