BJP’s “Modi Fest”, to celebrate three years of the Narendra Modi government, proved to be a damp squib in the national capital. No Cabinet minister turned up at the event on Friday, prom-pting Delhi BJP in-cha-rge and party national vicepresident Shyam Jaju to inaugurate the fest. However, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said that the event will be ceremoniously inaugurated on Saturday by a Union minister.

Around 11 am on Friday, the Delhi BJP sent a message to journalists, requesting them to cover the inauguration of “Modi Fest” at the Red Fort ground around 12 noon. When several mediapersons turned up to cover the event, Delhi BJP general secretary Kuljeet Chahal told them that the event will be inaugurated on Saturday by a Union minister. However, police personnel deployed there told the media that the inauguration would take place on Friday itself. Later on, Mr Jaju came and inaugurated the event marking three years of the Modi government.

As per plan, to celebrate three years of BJP government at the Centre, a three-day fest will be organised in all seven Lok Sabha constituencies where experts and officials from the concerned ministry will brief citizens about government plans and their benefits.

“The first camp was supposed to be held on June 2 and was likely to be inaugurated by a Union Cabinet minister. As the first function was planned in the Chandni Chowk constituency, local Lok Sabha member Harsh Vardhan was supposed to inaugurate the event.

However, the plan was changed as he was out of country and it was decided that in his place another Union minister will inaugurate the event. But due to mismanagement, it was inaugurated by Mr Jaju in the absence of a crowd,” said a senior party functionary.
