3 arrested for robbing Amazon delivery boy

The Delhi police has arrested three persons who allegedly used rob Amazon delivery boys at gunpoint. With the arrest, the police claims to have solve over 14 such cases.

The police said that a five member gang was involved in over a dozen of robberies.

On May 28, a call was received regarding robbery of car belonging to ecommerce giant Amazon at Saraswati Enclave. The victim, Saurav (28), and driver Sikander had gone to deliver an item, when five persons present there robbed them at gunpoint and also took the van.

The van was later found abandoned on the Kair Jharoda village road. On June1, an informatio­n was received that the accused would gather at Anaj Mandi in Najafgarh to commit another crime. Based on the tip-off, a trap was laid to nab the criminals. At around 3.30 pm, three people on two motorcycle­s assembled at the designated spot. The police team swung into action and apprehende­d the accused. When the three were checked, one country-made pistol was recovered from on of the accused.

The accused have been identified as Hemant alias Laddu, Sunil alias Sunny and Mohit alias Tony.

During interrogat­ion, they disclosed that they registered the products at Amazon using stolen and snatched mobile phones and when the courier boy from the said company came to deliver the products, they robbed him at gunpoint.

The accused had CCTV cameras installed at their houses that were connected to their mobile phones to monitor the visitors in their house.

By this way, they would evade their arrest, said an official, adding they were involved in as many as 14 cases, including robberies at gunpoint.
