The NSCN(IM) has called upon all the warring factions of Nagaland to join the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks, which they claimed is at final stage.

Asserting that the framework agreement is a preamble for a detailed final political agreement and is expected to be completed and signed very soon between the two sides, the NSCN(I-M) warned, “The Government of India cannot have numerous solutions in piece meal.”

In what may be called an attempt to prevail upon warring factions of Nagaland to join the peace process, the ministry of information and publicity wing of the outfit pointed out that the framework agreement was reached

after a series of political negotiations spanning 20 years, under six successive Prime Ministers of India, where both “India and the Nagas” have come closer to understand each other’s problems by signing of the historic framework agreement on August 3, 2015.

In an obvious reference to those demanding disclosure of contents in the framework agreement, the NSCN(I-M) described them as forces with treacherous game plan to sabotage what has been achieved after 70 years by Nagas. The outfit also warned that Nagas and their future generations should not be influenced by such vested interest circles.

“It would be suicidal if attempts were made to hijack the Indo-Naga political talks at this final stage by those who still worship the treacherous and deceitful accords and agreements of the past decades,” the political wing of the NSCN(I-M) said.

Such an attempt was also against Naga national interests and the initiatives of the Government of India, which is committed to permanent peace and development in the Northeast and “Nagalim” in particular, it said.

Towards an inclusive agreement, NSCN(I-M) said it has kept its doors open all along as the ongoing political negotiations progressed to its final settlement. The NSCN(I-M) appealed to people not to be misled by “builders of Babel Tower and Pharaohs of Egypt”, but to continue unflinching support towards a final solution in the interest of Nagas and the Naga nation.

The NSCN (I-M) in its statement assured the Naga people, “India has recognised the sovereign rights of the Nagas and had agreed to coexist with shared sovereignty.”
