He let the N word slip when he was interviewing a Republican Senator on the show, and now, he has apologised for the word that he uttered.

TMZ.com reports that Maher released a statement saying, “Friday nights are always my The Allman Brothers Band frontman, Gregg Allman who passed away last week due to liver cancer, was laid to rest on Sunday near the grave of his late brother Duane and his band mate Berry Oakley, who both died at the age of 24. A private funeral was observed where the rock star’s close friends, family and band mates attended and paid their respects.

There was a service at a small chapel to which Gregg’s ex-wife Cher was in attendance, before the group of 100 people moved to the Ross Hill Cemetery in worst night of sleep because I’m up reflecting on the things I should or shouldn’t have said on my live show. Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment.” He added that using that word on the show was offensive, regretful, and that he is very sorry.

Chance the Rapper appealed to HBO to cancel Maher’s show, following this incident in a tweet that was retweeted more than 6,500 times!
