Trump says he’s ‘100%’ willing to testify over Comey conversations
President says willing to testify ‘100 per cent’ under oath
Washington, June 10: The US House of Rep resentatives and Senate investigators have sought from James Comey memos of his conversations with Donald Trump and any records, including audiotapes, the White House may have of their discussions even as the President said he is “100 per cent” willing to testify over his talks with the sacked FBI director.
The leaders of the House Russia investigation, Michael Conaway — a Texas Republican — and Adam Schiff — a California Democrat — sent a request directly to Comey for copies of his memos, according to CNN.
The two leaders sent a separate request to Trump’s White House counsel Don McGahn for any record the White House had of their meetings. The House requested Mr Comey and the White House provide the records by June 23.
The Senate judiciary committee, meanwhile, sent a request to Columbia University law professor Daniel Richman for Comey’s memos by Friday. Richman confirmed on Thursday that he was the friend Mr Comey testified who had discussed the memos with the press.
Mr Trump said that he is “100 per cent” willing to testify under oath on Comey meetings. “One hundred per cent... I would be glad to tell him (special counsel Robert Mueller) exactly what I told you,” Mr Trump said at a press conference in the Rose Garden of the White House with the visiting Romanian President. Mr Trump cryptically refused to say whether those private exchanges were taped
