Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Digital India” initiative, the BJP-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation launched its new-look website with added features even as its mayor asserted that the move would promote e-governance and reduce the scope for corruption.

A major new feature of the website is the facility for residents to apply for mutation or change of name in property tax records online.

According to NDMC’s mayor Preety Agarwal, “The new website is user-friendly and it would enhance administrative efficiency besides, reducing scope for corruption as it will cut down on human contact and promote e-governance.”

The NDMC’s commissioner Praveen Gupta said that the website has been designed and developed on latest technology which is relatively fast since it uses much system resources. Mr Gupta said the idea now is to go from “in line to online” as much as possible to get civic work done and offer more ease to people.

“Also, now people can apply for mutation of property tax records online. And, mutation certificate would also be made available online.

“The website also contains easy access links to various platforms — Mayor helpline, call centre help line, online parking lot management system, and online unauthorised construction management system,” the municipal commissioner said.
