Family of victim allege she was raped, later murdered

High drama prevailed in Shalimar Bagh on Saturday after the body of a domestic helper was found hanging inside the house of a businessman in mysterious condition. The police had a tough time in pacifying the agitated family members of the deceased who accused the businessman of allegedly raping and later murdering the 15year-old domestic helper.

The police said that the deceased hailed from Kolkata in West Bengal and had been working in the house for the last three-and-a-half years. According to her family, the body of the minor was found hanging from the ceiling fan on Friday evening at the businessman’s house. When informed, the police rushed to the spot and moved the body to Babu Jag Jeevan Ram Hospital. The minor was declared brought dead.

Following procedure, the cops then sent the body for a post-mortem. But tension prevailed on Saturday when the family and relatives of the deceased gathered outside the house of the businessman, accusing him of raping and murdering their daughter. The police learnt about the drama while they were preparing to hand over the body of the deceased girl to her family.

A team immediately reached the spot and assured the agitated family members of fair and impartial probe. An official said that it is too early to say how the girl died.

The police has initiated a probe and is waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.
