APROPOS YOUR editorial Emergency: Have all learnt lessons from it?

(June 27), in an amazing similarity, at present too, a majoritarian government is in power and a Prime Minister no less strong and popular than Indira Gandhi is heading it. However, much water has flown down the Yamuna since 1975 and there seems to be no scope for a new Emergency. A powerful electronic media, unsparing social media, an unbending judiciary and the occupant of the Rashtrapati Bhavan who would not sign on the dotted line are a deterrent for any majoritarian government’s adventurism.
