2ND DRAW OF LOTS FOR EWS SEATS TODAY

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The second computerised draw of lots for admissions under economically weaker sections category will be conducted on Wednesday. For a total of 31,653 seats in the entry level classes, including nursery, in Economically Weaker Sections-Disadvantaged Groups in 1,156 private schools, more than one lakh applications were received and results were announced for 31,269 seats through first draw of lots in March. However, the Directorate of Education didn’t immediately release any second list or made any announcements on the second draw of lots for admissions under the EWS quota though close to 400 such seats were vacant. No announcement on second or a waiting list had left the parents whose wards’ name did not appear in the first list confused. The Delhi government had come up with the centralised online draw of lots for EWS-DG seats last year. Before this, individual schools used to conduct lottery at their own level and a centralised process was introduced with an aim to bringing transparency in selecting students from underprivileged sections.
