Sharp rise Malaria cases in last few months

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Malaria cases seem to be rising steadily in the last few months with 11 fresh cases reported only in one week — from June 18-24. This takes the total number of malaria cases in Delhi since January this year to 70.

In the latest municipal report released on Tuesday, four fresh cases of dengue and two of chikungunya were reported in the city in the last week.

This takes the total number of dengue and chikungunya cases this year till June 24 to 54 and 107 respectively, even as the authorities are gearing up to combat any outbreak situation of the vector-borne diseases.

Though the season of the vector-borne diseases had ended in December, the city continues to report such cases, prompting authorities to prepare a roadmap for the combat plan. If the data from cases reported from other states is also included, the total number of malaria, dengue, and chikungunya cases stand at 113, 97, and 149.
