- UMA RAMASUBRAMANIAN

Shraddha Kapoor is known for her girl next door image. She took up her upcoming biopic film on Haseena Parkar as a challenge and reveals she wanted to meet Haseena which would have helped her prepare for the role much better. “I feel every film has challenges, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction. I am essaying a real life character for the first time, and I wish I could have met her. It would have helped me, but Appu (Apoorva Lakhia) sir has spent a lot of time with her so whatever experience he had, he shared it with me. And that helped me a great deal to understand her character. I hope I have done a competent job in portraying her,” Shraddha said during the trailer launch of Haseena Parkar. Shraddha stars in the titular role of Haseena Parkar in Apoorva’s film on gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s sister, who became popular as Aapa in Mumbai’s Nagpada area. The actress also gained weight for this role. She says, “I put on seven to nine kilos for the film, and now I am in the process of losing that weight. I didn’t work out and was eating everything. My weight increase credit goes to Appu who used to get biryani and gulab jamun daily,” she says with a smile.

Ask Shraddha was she bored of playing the quintessential role of the girl next door that Bollywood has heaped upon her and she replied, “I don’t think I can ever get bored of romantic films. I have had the opportunity to be part of some fantastic romantic stories. I will always pick a romantic movie with an interesting script. I cannot remember one instance where I got bored, except for getting ready for a few characters that takes long at times,” she concludes.
