2 armed men loot car from VIP area

Two armed men allegedly looted a Fortuner car from outside Ashoka Hotel in Chanakyapu­ri.

According to the complaint, the victim, Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Mall Road, had come for lunch with his wife to Ashoka Hotel on Saturday evening.

After finishing the lunch, Mr Kumar took the car out of hotel parking and drove till the main entrance.

He pulled over his Fortuner car and was waiting for his wife to come when two armed men came from behind.

In his complaint, Mr Kumar stated that the two men, both armed with pistols, allegedly threatened him to get out of the car.

Afraid of any untoward incident, Mr Kumar immediatel­y surrendere­d to their demands and came out of the car. The duo, before speeding away with the car, threatened Mr Kumar not to approach the police and subsequent­ly left the spot.

Heckled over the incident, the victim approached the police and informed them about the incident.

The police immediatel­y was put on alert and considerin­g the VIP area which houses embassies and houses of dignitarie­s, the entire New Delhi district police was alerted. However, the miscreants managed to give police a slip and made away with the car despite the heavy barricadin­g.

According to an official, the police are verifying all CCTV cameras installed in the area.

The police has also registered a case in this connection and are probing.
