police said that Sharma had financed Shambhu’s village pradhan election campaign and on a quid pro quo basis, Shambhu had helped him in getting some government contracts.

According to police, on April 29, a police team from South district had foiled the “supari (killing bid)” of Krishan Kumar Sharma, the proprietor of Taj Orient Hotel, with the arrest of eight supari killers belonging to the infamous interstate gang of Harender alias Heavy.

After delving deeper into the conspiracy, it was learnt that Chander Shekhar and Shambhu were in continuous touch with one Vijay Naagar, who had awarded a contract of `2 crore for eliminating the target.

It was revealed that dreaded criminal Ravi Roopwas, infamous for executing contract killings in Noida and other districts of western Uttar Pradesh, had tasked arrested accused Sanjay, Manish Khari, and Chainpal on behalf of Shambhu and Naagar.

During questioning, Chander Shekhar stated that his two brothers, Krishan Kumar Sharma and Naresh Kumar, had jointly started a hotel business and were operating the hotel in Agra. Soon, several other business ventures were also started out of the profits made from the hotel.

“When Krishan Kumar decided to part with his legitimate share in the business, accused Chander Shekhar decided to resist. Knowing that all his fortunes will soon vanish in the absence of the management of Krishan Kumar, he entered into a sinister conspiracy to get him eliminated so that he could become sole owner of the various business ventures,” an official said.
