MS Paint is here to stay, says Microsoft

Microsoft on July 24 announced that it will stop actively developing the iconic Paint program and shift its focus on software for 3D-drawing it unveiled last year, leaving many Microsoft users in a state of disappoint­ment.

MS Paint was first introduced in 1985 with the very first version of Windows 1.0 and became a core part of the operating system. After three decades, when Microsoft is slated to release its Windows 10 Fall Creators Update later this year, the applicatio­n along with others was found listed out as “removed and deprecated” in the update. In an official statement, Microsoft did write, “This list is intended to help customers consider these removals and deprecatio­ns for their own planning. The list is subject to change and may not include every deprecated feature or functional­ity.” In a recent blogpost Microsoft clarified that MS Paint is nowhere to go and is “here to stay”. The company said, “MS Paint is here to stay, it will have just a new home soon, in the Windows Store where it will be available for free.”

Many of the MS Paint features like photo editing, line, 2D creation and curve tools will be present in the updated 3D version

Windows 10 Creator Update, and will continue to get feature updates. “In addition to the new 3D capabiliti­es, many of the MS Paint features people know and love like photo editing, line and curve tools, and 2D creation are in Paint 3D,” the blog reads.
