Lukaku aims to become ‘COMPLETE PACKAGE’

-

London, July 25: Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku does not consider himself a complete striker but is optimistic of creating his “own history” at Old Trafford.

The Belgium international arrived at Old Trafford for a reported fee of £75 million ($97.74 million) earlier this month after netting 25 league goals for Everton last season.

When asked if he was in the same bracket as some of Europe’s elite forwards, including Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, he replied: “No, no, no — I’m far from that level.

“I’m 24 years of age. I can’t say I’m the complete package. I can’t say I’m in my prime.

“There is a lot of work to be done and I’m delighted that there is still work to be done. That means I can become even better than I am now.” Lukaku said winning trophies was the most important thing for him and he joined United after hearing manager Jose Mourinho’s rebuilding plan. “I always wanted to play for a club of this stature. Now I am here I want to take my chance and try to deliver as much as I could for the club. “For me, it’s all about winning. I want to win and now I’m at a club where winning is the most important thing.”

Markovic set to leave Reds Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said the Premier League club intend to sell winger Lazar Markovic during the current transfer window. The Serbia international, who spent the last season out on loan at Sporting Lisbon and Hull City, featured in Liverpool’s first pre-season friendly against Tranmere Rovers but was left out of the squad for the tour to Hong Kong.

“With Lazar, it’s no secret that if he finds a club then we will negotiate,” Klopp told Liverpool Echo.

“He’s a really good player. I like him as a person. He’s now fit and another one who is in the best shape since I’ve known him. ”

Markovic, 23, arrived at Anfield from Benfica three years ago and has made 34 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Juventus splash for Bernardeschi Juventus have signed promising Fiorentina forward Federico Bernardeschi on a five-year deal for 40 million euros, the Italian champions announced on Monday. The 23-year-old joins Juventus having spent three years in Florence, scoring 11 goals in the last Serie A season, the youngest player to do so, and collecting nine caps for Italy. He is the most expensive transfer for Massimiliano Allegri’s side in the close season transfer window, as they look to build a side capable of winning a record seventh successive league title.
