Lovers attempt suicide by jumping in front of train

A 13-year-old girl and a 26-year-old youth, who apparently had an affair, are undergoing treatment after they allegedly tried to commit suicide by throwing themselves before a running train at Narela railway station on Monday.

The student of Class 4, had an affair with the man who lives in a separate room of the same building. Both of their families hail from Bihar and were living in the building for a couple of years.

The incident took place on the day of Raksha Bandhan, which led people to speculate that the girl and the youth were siblings and might have attempted suicide over some family issue.

However, after knowing the reality, they were all in shock. Following this, the duo was rushed them to a hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. According to an official, the youth, Sajan Kumar claimed that the girl on her own free will

joined to jump before the train. The claim, even if found true, could mean further trouble for him as it could attract charges of abduction and those under Pocso Act.

The duo had tried to persuade their respective family members about the relationship but was strictly asked to part ways. The youth has lost both his legs in the incident and the girl has also received multiple injuries all over the body. Later, the youth was later shifted to LNJP Hospital, a police officer said, adding that they suspect that the duo tried to end their lives over their love affair.
