Indian team gets a makeover on Sri Lanka tour

- BIPIN DANI

The Indian cricket team will have a new look in the ongoing matches against Sri Lanka. A few members of the team visited Ramani Fernando Salons in Taj Samudra Hotel recently. “We had a very distinguished guest as a customer last week. He was none other than the Indian cricket team’s captain Virat Kohli,” said Samantha K. Pathirana, the manager at the salon, in an exclusive interaction. “Virat came with a photo, which he showed to our hairstylist Dhanushka Silva,” he added.

“I was so overwhelmed with Kohli’s request that I forgot to take his photo and I will repent it forever. Kohli was in such a hurry that he had no time to chat with us. He was very happy with his new hairstyle and promised to send few more members of the team,” said Dhanushka. “He sent Lokesh Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and also Hardik Pandya. Most of the time during the session Kohli remained silent. But he said he is convinced with my service,” he added.

According to the manager, many Sri Lankan players and their wives visit this salon regularly. The Indian team has now reached Kandy but is scheduled to arrive in Colombo again for the limited over matches.

“I know few players who are accompanied by their wives on the current tour. We had a few female customers in the last couple of days, but I don’t know if any of them was a wife of a player,” the hairstylist said.

“It was not a complimentary service to the players. Yes, we did charge them,” said the hairstylist, while preferring to keep mum when asked if Kohli tipped him.
