Buxar DM found dead in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Senior IAS officer and district magistrate of Bihar’s Buxar, Mukesh Pandey, was found dead near railway tracks here with a purported suicide note indicating he was “upset” due to marital issues, the police said.

The suicide by a senior IAS officer Mukesh Pandey, who hails from Assam, has come as shocker for his family members and friends in the state. Mr Pandey, an IAS officer of the 2012 batch, was found dead near railway track at the Ghaziabad railway station in Delhi NCR on Friday.

As the news of suicide came, a pall of gloom descended in Bamunimaid­an locality in Guwahati where Pandey’s house is located.

The aggrieved family members and his father, who is a doctor, said that they received an SMS from Mr Pandey on Thursday evening in which he said, “I, Mukesh Pandey, is committing suicide.” The deceased IAS officer had sent similar SMS to his many friends in Guwahati.

The IAS officer said in the letter that he was fed up with his life and has lost his “belief in human existence”. “I am committing suicide in district centre area of Janakpuri in west Delhi...by jumping off the 10th floor of the building. I am fed up with life and my belief in human existence has gone. My detailed suicide note is kept in a Nike bag in room 742 of a five-star (name withheld) hotel in Delhi. I am sorry, I love you all! Please forgive me,” said the note, according to senior superinten­dent of police H.N. Singh.

The family members, shocked by the incident, said, “We contacted the Delhi police and the Hotel Lila Palace where he had checked in.”
