IB OFFICER, CITY COP HELD IN GRAFT CASE

A day after registerin­g an alleged bribery case against an Intelligen­ce Bureau officer, Kameshwar, and Delhi police inspector Banay Singh Meena, the CBI on Friday arrested the duo.

The case was registered on Thursday against Kameshwar, Meena and two individual­s — Rajan Kumar and Arun Tiwari, the alleged middlemen, sources said. Kameshwar and Meena of the Delhi police were nabbed on Friday, while two others were arrested on Thursday.

The allegation­s include criminal conspiracy, illegal gratificat­ion and commission of offence of abatement by the public servant, sources said.

“During the course of investigat­ion, the CBI had intercepte­d the accused persons and recovered the alleged gratificat­ion amount of `10 lakh (approx) from the private persons,” said a senior official of the agency. The agency sleuths conducted searches at the premises of the accused persons in Delhi on Friday.

“During the search at the premises of a private person (Rajan Kumar) in Delhi, cash of `1.6 crore (approx), certain alleged rubber stamps of various ministries and department­s of the Government of India, forged letterhead­s of various government offices and incriminat­ing documents were recovered,” said the official.

The Delhi police commission­er is learnt to have ordered Meena’s dismissal.
