New Delhi, Aug. 11: A 27year-old rickshaw-puller was on Friday arrested for allegedly kidnapping a four-and-a-half-year-old child to sell him off, the police said.

The child, who was abducted two days ago by the accused, was rescued safely from the New Delhi Railway Station this morning, they added.

According to the police, a woman filed a complaint, on August 9, in the Punjabi Bagh police station that her son had been kidnapped.

She told the police that on August 8, one Soneshwar Tigga, who had been residing with their family for over a year, took her son to Punjabi Bagh market, but after his return he told her that someone took away

the child from him, a senior police official said.

Following which Tigga

was quizzed and he told the police that he had befriended one Sunil at the market and they were consuming beer when the boy went missing, the police said.

During the probe, it was revealed that they had left the boy in the rickshaw and after they returned, they found that the rickshaw-puller had taken away the child, he said.

CCTV footage from the market were analysed and it was confirmed that the rickshaw-puller had kidnapped the boy.

The police took up the case and then procured photographs of the rickshaw-puller and the rickshaw.

The rickshaw was found parked in a garage in Madipur. The owner told the police that one Vinod had taken the rickshaw and then brought it back on August 8.
