DCW rescues girl from city brothel

After being forced to sleep with 30 men in the last five months, the nightmare for a 22-year-old girl ended this week when she escaped from a brothel at G.B. Road.

The girl was brought to Delhi from her hometown in Nepal around five months ago by a woman on the pretext of giving her a job in Dubai. She was then sold to a brothel on G.B. Road.

There, she was physically assaulted by the woman, kept hungry for days, and forced into prostitution.

After escaping from brothel number 64, the victim got in touch with the NGO Rescue Foundation. The NGO sought the help of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) in registering an FIR against the accused.

DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal said that this is one of the modus operandi of traffickers who work on G.B. Road.

“They lure women from small cities and neighbouring countries by promising them good jobs in the city and then sell them to the brothels once they land in Delhi. These women are then forced into prostitution and sleep with at least 30 men in one day,” said the chairperson.

She said that she was determined to rescue all women who are trapped at G.B. Road and “will leave no stone unturned in doing so.”
