Regularise jobs of contractual staff: Delhi BJP

- AGE CORRESPONDENT NEW DELHI, AUG. 22

The Delhi BJP unit on Tuesday demanded that the Delhi government regularise the jobs of all contractual employees, including 17,000 guest teachers. BJP leader Arvinder Singh Lovely said the Arvind Kejriwal government is fooling guest teachers by blaming the lieutenant governor and the Centre for not taking steps to regularise their jobs.

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has befooled guest teachers, aaganwaadi workers or DTC employees in the name of job regularisation. “The government has played with the city sanitation workers lives, which has resulted in the death of 10 workers due to drowning in sewers in the past month,” claimed Mr Tiwari.

Mentioning the AAP’s poll promises, Mr Tiwari and Mr Lovely said before 2015 polls, Mr Kejriwal promised to regularise the services of the guest teachers and the aaganwaadi workers, but has not come good on his promise except for making

“frivolous announcements” that too during a period when model code of conduct stands invoked.

Mr Lovely, who was the former Delhi education minister, said, “No sincere efforts have been made by the Delhi government in this regard, except for misleading guest teachers and people.” He also said, “Instead of passing a resolution in the Assembly, the government has made a cabinet note framing rules for regularisation of 17,000 teachers and get the same passed in the Delhi Assembly.”

Mr Tiwari asked why the government hasn’t made any effort to bring a resolution to regularise the services of the guest teachers in the Assembly though it has used the same precinct to discuss issues of other states?.
