Five features that make the Galaxy Note 8 cool!

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The recently launched Galaxy Note 8 is the latest example of Samsung’s philosophy: cram the best technology into one device to deliver a worthwhile experience. The Galaxy Note 8 has several features that can revolutionise the smartphone usage, out of which the following five will make using any smartphone other than the Note 8 difficult.

Animated GIF: GIFs are the most intuitive way to convey your emotions. However, in order to make attractive GIFs, you have to know a fair amount of professional video editing apps. Not anymore. The Note 8 has an animated GIF making feature. With the S Pen, you need to go to ‘Smart Select’ and choose ‘Animation’ to get going. You can record footage of whatever is playing on the screen and save it as a GIF to use it in your WhatsApp or Facebook conversations.

Hidden bottom navigation bar: In Android, the navigation bar at the bottom remains active in all apps other than video player apps and games as it is the only way to go back and forth in your phone’s interface. The Note 8 gives its users an option to hide it on demand, i.e., you can hide by double tapping it and re-launch it by swiping up and double tapping on it again.

See notifications from the fingerprint sensor: The latest range of Samsung flagships with its Infinity Display now sees the fingerprint sensor placed at the back. While this criticised fingerprint sensor position has been carried over from the S8 to the Note 8, it does house one neat trick to help users manage the phablet with one-hand — drop down the notification panel by swiping down on the sensor and withdraw it by swiping up.

Translate with S Pen: Until now, the S Pen had been available only for scribbling notes and sketches as well as house certain shortcuts. With the Note 8, one will be able to translate languages on the move, without the need to go on the web. All one needs to do is access the S Pen shortcuts and select ‘Translate’, wherein one can only translate selected text by hovering S Pen over the display.

Use S Pen’s button as an eraser: With the Note 8’s S Pen, users can also erase their digital scribbles by pressing and holding the side button on the S Pen. This should make it easier to get your art on the canvas with accuracy as you won’t have to hunt for an onscreen eraser button anymore. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is one of the most feature-rich smartphones that money can buy. It will be tough for any other smartphone to beat the Note 8. The Note is expected to arrive in India next month and will sit above Samsung’s last flagship Galaxy S8 models.
