Gang of robbers came disguised as patients

A doctor and his wife were allegedly assaulted and robbed of their valuables in broad daylight in Anand Vihar. The armed gang barged inside the clinic of the doctor and walked out freely brandishin­g weapons. The locals, who had gathered at the spot, remained mute spectators.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Piyush Jain, is a resident of Rishabh Vihar in Annad Vihar area. He was seeing patients at his house-turned clinic when the incident happened.

The gang first robbed `35,000 from his clinic at knife point. They then took him to the first floor, allegedly made the couple hostages and robbed the house before fleeing the spot.

The police said that the gang came disguised as patients. One of the gang members, along with a juvenile, went inside the clinic on the pretext of meeting the doctor.

Dr Jain’s physiother­apy clinic is on the ground floor while his family lives on the first floor.

What came as a shock was that even though a crowd gathered at the spot hearing the commotion, none dared to intervene or inform the police. The assailants, in a daring act, walked out of the house and fled the spot. The area jurisdicti­onal police has registered a case and is probing in this connection.
