In a horrific incident, an 11-year-old minor was repeatedly raped and assaulted at the hands of her uncle. Her mother, adding insult to her injury, brutally beat her when she tried to raise her voice against sexual violence.

However, her ordeal came to an end when the girl showed her presence of mind and wrote a letter about her ordeal to her aunt. She read the victim’s letter (about the ordeal) and approached Delhi Commission for Women and Child Welfare Committee (CWC), who in turn directed the police to take up the matter.

Acting on the complaint (the victim's letter) given to them DCW and CWC, the Farsh Bazar police initiated probe into the same and arrested the accused on September 1.

It all began when Rosa (name changed) secretly handed over the letter to her paternal aunt and narrated how her maternal uncle raped her and sexually abused her for several months. In her letter, she said that since her parents parted ways and started to live separately, her mother brought her to her maternal home.

Since then, her uncle used to molest her, sexual assault her and later beat her up threatening her to remain tight-lipped. When the victim told her mother about her uncle, she was allegedly beaten and warned to stay quiet.

Unable to take the torture anymore, Rosa met her aunt and handed over the letter. As per the letter, the victim said that she wished to be reunited with “my father. My mother and uncle would kill me if, I continue to stay with them”. She explained how she was being raped and sexually abused repeatedly by her uncle.

The incident had come to light on August 24, when Rosa met her aunt. The victim is a student of Class 6 in Teliwandi. Her father, Vinod lived separately in Jwala Nagar.
