Madame Tussauds to open in city this year-end

Delhiites can now meet their favourite internatio­nal stars at Madame Tussauds in the city.

Visitors will now get to do the Moonwalk with Michael Jackson, strike a pose with Marilyn Monroe, score a goal with David Bekham, Lionel Messi, serenade alongside crooner Justin Bieber.

Their wax figures will join the league of Indian stars in the capital. The figures will be displayed in a dedicated theme-based zones, which will also have Hollywood celebritie­s such as Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Kidman, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Winslet, Beyoncé Knowles, and Kim Kardashian.

“India is always known to have a massive number of fans following Hollywood/internatio­nal celebritie­s. And this number is growing rapidly.

Madame Tussauds has always been known to bring the “fans closest to their most loved icon. We understand this is necessary for the Indian fans to feel the same experience that people all over the world feel,” said Mr Anshul Jain, general manager and director, Merlin Entertainm­ents India Private Limited.

It may be noted here that the company, Merlin Entertainm­ents, owns all Madame Tussauds attraction­s across the globe.

“The Indian fans will have an opportunit­y to indulge in a sought-after red carpet experience along with their favourite global icons at the museum,” Mr Jain added.

Madame Tussauds, Delhi is an attraction known to contain wax figures of celebritie­s from various fields — glamour, sports, history, politics and history — all under one roof.

The wax museum’s Delhi branch, scheduled to open later this year, apart from housing wax figures of global personalit­ies, also boasts of Bollywood actors such as Madhubala, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan and cricketers such as Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar and a special zone for the stalwarts of the freedom movement and other political leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
