‘I HAD WRITTEN THIS ROLE FOR AAMIR’

Superstar Aamir Khan has taken his manager Advait Chandan under his wings, after the Lagaan actor decided to act in his debut film Secret Superstar.

Advait, who considers Aamir as his guru, says, “I auditioned Aamir for the role and that audition was so funny. We were so sure that nobody could pull off that role like him,” he explains. The debutant filmmaker reveals that he was worried about disappointing the A-list star. He says, “Aamir doesn’t approve of mediocrity. It is scary to meet his standards. We work at our own pace hence we thought we won’t be able to release the film by August 4, due to which we also had to postpone the release date,” he added.

Secret Superstar is the story of a smalltown girl played by Zaira Wasim, who wants to be a world-famous singer, and how Aamir mentors her. Aamir will be seen playing singer Shakti Kumar in Secret Superstar. Advait reveals he had written the script keeping him in mind. He says, “I had written this particular character for Aamir Khan, but I never told him this. It’s too much to ask in one breath. He was already producing the film, so I thought it would be too much if I ask him to act as well. After I got signed as a director, I told him that I had written the part for him.”
