Registrati­ons for ADHM thrown open

Registrati­ons for the 2017 edition of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon were thrown open here on Wednesday with a total prize purse of $275,000 up for grabs at the November 19 race.

Making the announceme­nt, race organisers Procam Internatio­nal, said they were expecting over 34,000 participan­ts to take part this time, especially with a new section — a timed 10km run — being added for the first time as an exclusivel­y charity effort open to runners only above 15 years of age. A few slots have been set aside for juniors (15-18) as non-charity runners.

The ADHM this year has received the badge of being a Gold Label race from the Internatio­nal Associatio­n of Athletics Federation­s classifyin­g the half marathon as one of ‘leading road races around the world’.

Vivek Singh, joint MD of Procam Internatio­nal, said, “This edition marks a glorious legacy as we set foot into the 10th edition of ADHM. As sporting entreprene­urs who wanted to get the country lace-up for distance running, it absolutely warms our heart to witness thousands of individual­s embrace running, be it competitiv­e or for fun.”

Applicatio­n forms for charity running places will be available with NGOs registered with the event’s philanthro­py partner, India Cares an will close by October 13, or as soon soon as the available slots are filled.

Reigning Olympics marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya won the event here last year.
