Birth, death certificat­es go digital in N. Delhi

Those tired of waiting to collect birth and death certificat­es from the North Delhi Municipal Corporatio­n can now heave a sigh of relief. The civic body will now provide computeris­ed birth and death certificat­es online from now onwards. It has also released a list of fake certificat­es.

Talking about the decision to issue birth and death certificat­es online, a senior NDMC official said that people do not need to visit the zonal Citizens Service Bureau (CSB) to obtain their certificat­es. They can obtain it online from comfort of their home by logging into birth and death registrati­on websites of the corporatio­n.

“If a citizens is unable to view online the informatio­n about a birth or death certificat­es that was got registered with the NDMC, he or she can contact the civic centre headquarte­rs and also report the same through email at ovisndmc@ gmail.com,” he added.

“It has also came to the notice that some birth and death certificat­es have been illegally issued. All such birth and death certificat­es have been annulled,” said a senior official.

The NDMC also warned citizens not to accept any birth and death certificat­es previously annulled. The civic body also released a list 45 certificat­es issued by its city zone. “The use of these forged documents is a criminal offence. If any office or person is in possession of these certificat­es, immediatel­y inform the NDMC and file an FIR with the police,” he added.
