Police said that on September 11, complainant Manya Vinayak, 34, was proceeding to Cosmos Hospital from Karkardooma Village in a rickshaw. When she reached in front of the BSES office in Saini Enclave, two boys riding a black motorcycle came from behind and snatched her bag and fled away.

In her complaint, she stated that the bag contained `1500 cash, two mobile phones, voter ID card, Aadhar card, and other documents. On the basis of the statement, a case was registered.

The police checked the CCTV footage in the locality for clues, sources were deployed and jail/bail releases were also checked. Further, the stolen mobile phones were put under technical surveillance.

The move bore fruit on September 14, when a transaction of `5,000 was made to a number using the Paytm application in the stolen mobile phone.

The police team scoured the details of the mobile phone number and it was found to be registered in the name of Mr Sufiyan. The police team raided the home and arrested Mr Kasif.

During interrogation, he disclosed that he, along with his brother Mr Sufiyan had committed the offence. The snatched items were recovered from Mr Sufiyan's possession, the police added.

A case has been lodged in the jurisdictional police station and an probe is underway.
