Woman among 3 arrested in extortion case

The city police busted an extortion racket with the arrest of three accused, including a woman, in Outer Delhi. The gang used to target reputed people and videograph them in order to extort money.

The accused have been identified as Sandeep Dalal alias Rinke, 36, Adarsh Kumar alias Sunny, 32, and a 22-yearold woman. Police said that the woman used to trap people by befriendin­g them over phone. As per plan, she would take the victim to her home where her two associates home would videograph the victim after removing the clothes and fleece him by threatenin­g to upload the video on social media networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

The police said the alleged extortion came to light when one of the victim’s who hails from Baba Haridas Nagar lodged a a police complaint against the gang. The police said that the gang had been involved in several cases and had been fleecing people.

As per the complaint, the victim became friends with the woman on August 28 and decided to meet her at Nangloi Stand, Najafgarh. When they met, the girl insisted that he come to her house, but he refused.

Suddenly, four persons appeared and two of them forcibly seated the victim in his car, while the remaining two were on the bike. They halted the car at an isolated place and forcibly removed the victim’s clothes and beat him. They demanded a sum of `23 lakhs from the complainan­t in lieu of his life, as per the probe.

Thereafter, they made a video of the victim in a compromisi­ng position. and threatened to upload it on Facebook and Whatsapp, if he didn’t pay them `5 lakhs in the next five days. They also stole the victim’s HDFC ATM card, PAN card, a gold ring and `85,000 from his car, the victim stated.

The police team of AATS/Outer District laid a trap and nabbed the accused.
