All Modi Nagar cops sent on punishment posting

The entire staff, 133 police personnel, of the Modi Nagar police station in Ghaziabad has been transferre­d to Police Lines under a directive of the ADG (Meerut zone) for alleged derelictio­n of duty, the Ghaziabad senior superinten­dent of police H.N. Singh said on Thursday.

“The decision to transfer the policemen was taken after a marathon meeting with additional director general of police Prashant Kumar,” Mr. Singh said. A new police team has been posted in the station. The officer said 133 personnel, including

The drastic action was taken after locals protested against the said cops over the body of a 14-yearold girl, recovered from Bhojipur area on September 14, after she went missing on September 4, according to sources.

Modi Nagar police station SHO Sanjay Kumar was transferre­d later to the police lines and incharge Sudhir Kumar was suspended for negligence in handling the case.

The deceased’s family members had met the senior superinten­dent of police and complained about the laxity shown by the police in the case. Local Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Manju Sivach took up the matter when he met Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
