City financier killed in Panipat over `14L loan

During probe, the accused told the police that they were involved in gambling

A Delhi-based financier was allegedly abducted and murdered by two people in Haryana. The deceased, Gaurav Kheda, had lent money to the two accused and when he asked them to return it, the duo reportedly hatched a conspiracy and murdered him in Panipat.

The incident took place in West Delhi’s Khayala from where the financier had gone missing since last Tuesday. The deceased, Gaurav Kheda, who was a resident of Kirti Nagar, was into finance and used to lend money.

The police said that the two accused are Karanjeet and Manpreet. The duo had taken money on loan many times. Whenever Gaurav asked for the money to be returned, the duo used to make some excuse and would seek more time to return it. Last Tuesday, the accused made a call to Gaurav and asked him to lend some more money. When Gaurav asked the duo to come to his place and collect `14 lakh, they told Gaurav that they couldn’t come and it would be helpful if he could go and hand over the cash.

As decided, Gaurav reached the pre-determined spot along with the

cash. After the night passed and Gaurav didn’t return home, his family approached the police and lodged a missing complaint.

Meanwhile, the accused had abducted Gaurav, took him to Panipat in Haryana and murdered him. They then threw his body from a flyover and fled. The Haryana police, who was informed about the incident, rushed to the spot and recovered Gaurav’s body. It started a probe into the same and found his car in Rai area. Based on the documents present in the car, the identity of the deceased was establishe­d and subsequent­ly the Delhi police was informed.

Based on the inputs and phone records of Gaurav, the team zeroed in on Karanjeet and Manpreet. They were arrested from their house in Kirti Nagar.

During probe, the accused told the police that they were involved in gambling. They had taken money on credit from Gaurav many times and became greedy when they received a sum of `14 lakh from him.
