It’s the festive season — the perfect time to upgrade our smart phones. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has just been launched and we tried it out. Here’s what we think:

The Note 8 comes with an improved S-Pen, Samsung’s own enhanced stylus. It features a rubber tip of 0.7mm, with better grip and improved pressure sensitivity, but thinner when compared to previous variants. It offers a few new helpful features. You can now write on your locked screen as well. It also helps you translate foreign languages and add GIFs.

The 6.3 inch device features a bezel-less body with an infinity display. There’s the ‘Always On’ feature, which keeps the display live even after the phone is locked. The Note devices are not meant to be handy and compact, but this one is comparatively sleeker and lighter with 8.6 mm thickness and 195 gm weight. On the camera front, Samsung once again proves that numbers don’t matter to click good quality pictures. This device features a dual-lens rear camera of 12 and 12 MP, where one is a wide angle lens with F 1.7 aperture and the other is telephoto lens with F 2.4 aperture. The front camera is a single lens camera with 8 MP. It has a dual capture mode that use the two rear lenses to capture one close-up shot and one wideangle shot that shows the entire background. Powered by a 10 nm Exynos processor with 6 GB RAM, the device runs on Android Nougat 7.0. It has a hybrid slot and internal memory of 64 GB is expandable up to 256 GB. The 3,300 mAh battery comes with wireless and fast charging capabilities. For security, the Note 8 has the fingerprint scanner located at the rear. Also, it has an iris scanner and the much talked about facial recognition feature. The Galaxy Note 8 is a loaded device, which is both premium and productive. It is now available for `67,900.
