The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday recommended the Medical Council of India to cancel the license of a doctor with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) who made a false MLC report of a more than two-yearold rape victim.

In a letter to the MCI secretary, DCW chairperson Swati Jaihind has said that the doctor was negligent to the core in the case of the minor and a strict action should be taken against him soon.

The girl was raped on February 15, 2016 and the police rushed her to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital for getting an MLC conducted. The medicolegal case (MLC) report said that the girl’s hymen was damaged/ruptured. The minor girl was referred to AIIMS for further investigation.

Here, the AIIMS doctor allegedly wrote in his MLC report that the girl’s hymen was not damaged. “Taking cognizance of the two MLC reports, the court directed the AIIMS to constitute a medical board in the matter.

false report and that the child’s hymen was damaged/ruptured. But AIIMS took no action against its doctor,” according to a statement issued by the DCW.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the DCW issued a notice to the AIIMS director asking him to cancel the license of the doctor in question. On the women’s panel notice, the AIIMS held a meeting of the medical board where it was reestablished that their doctor had made a false report in the case.

However, no action was taken against the doctor and he was left off with a warning. The AIIMs further said that it will run sensitivity programmes so that such incidents are not repeated in the future. Following the AIIMS inaction, Ms Jaihind wrote a letter to the MCI secretary to get the license of the said doctor cancelled.
