Fresh chargeshee­t filed against ex-chief engineer

The CBI on Tuesday filed a fresh chargeshee­t against Yadav Singh, suspended chief engineer of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authority, for allegedly amassing disproport­ionate assets worth `23 crore.

Talking to reporters here, CBI spokespers­on Abhishek Dayal said the chargeshee­t was filed against Mr Singh and his family members in a Ghaziabad special court. The agency has named his wife Kusumlata, daughters Garima Bhushan and Karuna Singh, son Sunny Singh, daughter-in-law Shreshtha Singh, and chartered accountant M.L. Rathi in the chargeshee­t. Besides, three firms and a trust were also named in the report.

The CBI spokespers­on said these assets were allegedly acquired between 2004 and 2015. During this period, the assets acquired by him were allegedly 512 per cent above his known sources of income.

The agency on August 4, 2015 had lodged two cases against Mr Singh and his family members for alleged corruption and amassing assets disproport­ionate to known sources of his income.

“The scrutiny of ITRs and other related records allegedly revealed that during 2009-2014, the total savings of Mr Singh and his family was around `1.70 crore, while they were in possession of immovable property worth several crores,” sources said. During probe against Mr Singh, top builders and politician­s too came under CBI scanner.

The CBI also scrutinise­d clearances given by Mr Singh during his tenure and alteration­s in the FAR of the buildings. Mr Singh allegedly entered into a conspiracy with unknown private persons/firms and awarded contracts for pecuniary gain.
