Security officer opens fire to control crowd

In a bid to avert any unwanted situation and to control the unruly mob at Azad Pur Metro station, a CISF ASI on Monday fired a warning shot into the air. The ASI fired into the air after some miscreants thrashed a policeman and other Metro security staff following a scuffle between two people.

The incident was reported at around 7:37 pm. The police has detained some people, including a minor, who were allegedly involved in the incident.

According to the source, an argument took place between two passengers at the ticket counter.

A CISF personnel brought them to station control room (SCR) and asked them to pay a fine for creating ruckus.

However, one of the miscreants, reportedly a 17year-old and a resident of Wazirpur Industrial area, called his associates to the station. Soon, around 15-20 associates of the miscreant reached the ticket office machine area and created nuisance. The mob allegedly assaulted police constable Munna Lal Meena, who was taking the two miscreants to the Kashmere Gate police station.

The miscreants even grabbed the CISF shift incharge by his collar. In order to control the situation, the shift in-charge, Mohammed Umar, had to fired one round into the air. No casualty was reported and a PCR was also called to Azadpur Metro station.

“In order to control this aggravated situation and save the life of the police constable, the CISF shift in-charge took the action promptly to bring the situation under control,” CISF spokesperson said.

The CISF personnel and the police are examining CCTV footage and examining the action to be taken against the miscreants.
