Case filed against Prakash Raj in UP

- AMITA VERMA

A case has been filed against National Award winner and actor Prakash Raj on the complaint lodged by a Lucknowbased lawyer for his recent remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A Lucknow court ordered the registration of FIR on a complaint submitted before it by a lawyer Sardar Parvinder Singh. The case has been listed for October 7.

Actor Prakash Raj has stirred up a controversy on Monday when he questioned the “absolute silence” of the Prime Minister on the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh.

The actor is reportedly a close friend of the Lankesh family and he said that the Prime Minister and other leaders were acting as if nothing I am a renowned actor, do you (Modi) think I will not be able to detect when you are acting. At least show me some respect, considering the fact that I am an actor..

Prakash Raj,

had happened despite their followers on the social media having celebrated the killing.

“Who killed my dear friend Gauri is not as important to me today as who has been celebrating her death. There may not be proof as to who killed Gauri but we can see who is celebrating it and from this we can form an idea of who could have killed her. The underlying cruelty in all of this is apparent to many people. Many of those celebrating Gauri’s death are persons followed by the Prime Minister on social media. The PM has been absolutely silent about these people,” Mr Prakash Raj said.

The actor was also quoted as saying that the Prime Minister Modi was a better actor than him, and that he should, maybe, therefore, give the acting awards he had won to him.
