- SUNIL THAPLIYAL

The Iranian Embassy second counsellor’s car was hit by another car at Tilak Marg, Bhagwan Dass circle near Supreme Court area on Saturday night.

The incident took place when another car jumped the red light and allegedly hit the counsellor's car. The counsellor and his son, who were in car, are were not injured in the incident.

“I along with my son was proceeding from ITO area towards Barakhamba road When I reached Bhagwan Dass circle, and were heading towards our destination, a Santro car, which jumped the red light, collided with my car, a Ford Figo,”Mr Khalil Maleki Raee said.

Mr Raee said that Amit Kumar was driving the other car in a negligent manner and legal action should be taken against him.

“We have filed a case under relevant sections against the accused, Mr Kumar. The diplomat and his son are safe and suffered no injuries in the incident. But a person walking on the road suffered minor injuries,” said a police officer.

An Iranian embassy official too has confirmed that Mr Raee and his son were safe.

It may be recalled here that on March 2 this year, a diplomat from the Philippines and his associate were brutally beaten up by a mob on the provocation of a woman, who claimed that her Hyundai car was allegedly hit by the diplomat’s Mercedes on Mahatma Gandhi Marg.
