Cops arrest 8 for murder, robbery in city godown

Eight men, including four labourers, were arrested for murdering a 65-yearold security guard of a godown and robbing sacks containing plastic granules worth `8.76 lakh and from where the sacks were stolen, on Friday.

On October 1, the police were informed about the killing of a security guard in DR Polymers godown, located in Tikri Kalan area of Mundka.

The body of the guard, Bajrang, was found tied to a cot with ropes. Later when the owner inspected the godown, he found many sacks containing plastic granules missing, the police said.

After the incident, police scanned the CCTV footages from the spot and questioned the workers employed at the godown and another godown located in Kirti Nagar. On Friday, the police zeroed in on one of factory’s labourers, Umesh Kumar, 25, and arrested him from the Kirti Nagar factory.

During interrogat­ion, Mr Kumar admitted to have done the crime and revealed the names of his accomplice­s. Mr Bajrang’s cell phone was also recovered from him.

Mr Kumar told police the co-accused had left for IMT Manesar, Gurgaon to sell the robbed plastic granules. A raid was conducted at IMT Manesar where the other accused labourers Raj Dev, 36, Chotu, 22, Jokhu Sahni, 42, drivers Nand Kishor (32) and Mangilal (26) were found unloading the robbed sacks of plastic granules, deputy commission­er of police (outer) Pankaj Singh said.

The duo the accused sold the sacks to— Satyapal (57) and his manager Ram Kishan (37) — were arrested, he added.
