Weinstein scandal gets murkier as Paltrow, Jolie speak out on being harassed; wife leaves him
WIFE GEORGINA HEARTBROKEN, LEAVING HIM
Los Angeles: Harvey Weinstein’s wife Georgina Chapman has said she has decided to leave the media mogul, following sexual harassment allegations against him.
The 41-year-old actor-designer, who as per Weinstein stood “100 percent” behind him in wake of the scandal, said she is heartbroken for the women who have suffered at the hands of her husband.
“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband. “Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time,” Chapman said in a statement to People magazine. While Weinstein said he supports his wife’s decision but hopes to start afresh after he is back from the rehab. He is believed to later seek treatment in Europe. “I support her decision, I am in counselling and perhaps, when I am better, we can rebuild. Over the last week, there has been a lot of pain for my family that I take responsibility for. ““I sat down with my wife Georgina, who I love more than anything, and we discussed what was best for our family. We discussed the possibility of a separation and I encouraged her to do what was in her heart.”
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts informed Weinstein "that his membership has been suspended, effective immediately.”
