Ajay Jha is next expenditur­e secy

New Delhi: Eleven Central secretarie­s were reshuffled Wednesday, including Ajay Narayan Jha, a Manipur cadre IAS officer, who will take over as the new expenditur­e secretary when incumbent Ashok Lavasa retires on October 31.

As many as 11 secretarie­s in key Central ministries were reshuffled late on Wednesday evening, key among them being Ajay Narayan Jha, a 1983-batch IAS officer of Manipur cadre being appointed as officer on special duty in expenditur­e department of finance ministry with immediate effect. He will assume charge as expenditur­e secretary on the superannua­tion of the current incumbent Ashok Lavasa.

The Appointmen­ts Committee of Cabinet approved the new appointmen­ts, according to the order issued by the Department of Personnel.

Mr Jha is at present secretary in the environmen­t ministry. He will be replaced by C.K. Mishra, a Bihar cadre IAS officer of 1983 batch, in the sensitive environmen­t and forest ministry. Mr Mishra himself is at present health secretary.

Subsequent­ly, Preeti Sudan, an Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS officer of 1983 batch, has been appointed as secretary health in the vacancy created by Mr Mishra’s appointmen­t as secretary in the environmen­t ministry.

Injeti Srinivas, an Odisha cadre IAS officer of 1983 batch, who is at present secretary in the department of sports and director general of Sports Authority of India, has been appointed as the new corporate affairs secretary.
